The State Coordinator NYSC Rivers State, Mr. Moses Oleghe has described active participation in sporting activities as a veritable means to keep fit physically, mentally, psychologically, and emotionally.
He stated this during the finals of inter-platoon football and volleyball competition for 2026 Batch A Stream I orientation exercise for Corps Members deployed to Rivers State.
Represented by the Camp Director, Mr. Bernard Akobi, Oleghe commended all the platoons for their high level of sportsmanship and competitive spirit, noting that the pride is in participation rather than winning.
In football final, the unbeatable 5 platoon team despatched 9 platoon by 5 - 4 via penalties to become the undisputed champions.
On the other hand, the indomitable 1 platoon volleyball team thrashed their 4 platoon counterpart 2 - 0 to clinch the volleyball top prize.
Cash prizes were awarded to the best 3 teams in all the competitions, including football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, and athletics.
