We Enjoy a Cordial and Productive Relationship With the Executive Arm -- Delta Speaker .
The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Guwor Emomotimi Dennis has disclosed that the 8th Assembly enjoys a fruitful working relationship with the Executive Arm which had resulted in remarkable infrastructural development across Delta State.
The Speaker made the revelation at a Press briefing Thursday June 11 to mark the third Anniversary of the 8th Assembly even as assured of non interference of the executive arm in the business of the House.
Gwuor said during the period under review the 8th Assembly had received eleven Bills, which included five executive bills and six private Bills.
He said out of the number, five Bills were passed, while four have been assented to by the Governor adding that one was currently being processed for assent.
The Delta Speaker also identified the approval of the appropriation Law, passage of the Delta State Revenue Service Bill which helped to harmonize and improve revenue generation in the state as some of the legislative milestones of the 8th Assembly.
He said also during the period under review, the House established the Post-Legislative Scrutiny department which was designed to systematically monitor and evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of laws passed by the House and their impact on the lives of the people.
The Speaker also mentioned the implementation of the consolidated Legislative Salary Structure for staff of 5he Hiuse and the Service Comission by the Delta State government as one of its significant achievements.
He expressed gratitude to the Media for their role in providing visibility to the activities of the House and strengthening Democratic accuntability through effective reportage.
