2027: Elumelu wins APC ticket for Aniocha-Oshimili Federal Constituency
In what could best be described as a political tsunami, Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, dealt an irredeemable blow to his opponent, Ngozi Okolie when he emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency of Delta State.
Elumelu secured the party’s ticket after defeating Ngozi Okolie, the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency in all the Wards.
The APC primary election was concluded at the Oshimili South Local Government Council Secretariat, which served as the collation centre for the exercise.
Declaring the result, the Returning Officer for the APC direct primary in the constituency, Val Areyeka, announced Elumelu as winner after he polled overwhelming majority of votes across the four local government areas that make up the constituency, Oshimili South, Oshimili North, Aniocha South and Aniocha North.
Speaking after his victory, Elumelu thanked party leaders, stakeholders and members for what he described as a collective mandate, promising to restore the era of “impactful representation” in the constituency.
He said the outcome of the primary reflected the confidence of party faithful and residents across the federal constituency, assuring supporters that their trust would not be misplaced.
Elumelu pledged that if elected in 2027, he would provide stronger representation, attract more development opportunities and ensure increased visibility for Aniocha/Oshimili at the National Assembly.
According to him, residents are eager for renewed and robust representation marked by constituency projects and empowerment programmes in key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, road infrastructure, housing and electricity.
He further described his emergence as a “unity ticket,” noting that the constituency had demonstrated its willingness to rise above division and speak with one voice.
The former lawmaker commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said has strengthened the APC nationwide.
He also praised Delta State Governor, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for the implementation of the MORE Agenda, which he said has boosted support for the party in the state.
Elumelu also acknowledged former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the APC national and state leadership, members of his campaign council and supporters for their roles in his emergence.
Calling for unity ahead of the 2027 general elections, he appealed to other aspirants and aggrieved party members to embrace sportsmanship and work together for the success of the APC.
