Our attention has been drawn to a publication circulating on an Online platform and other social media platforms in which the member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, alleged that his predecessor is plotting to sponsor a protest against him.
Ordinarily, such a baseless allegation would not deserve a response. However, in order to set the record straight and prevent the public from being misled, it has become necessary to state the following:
Firstly, his predecessor is a seasoned democrat and statesman who served the people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency for three consecutive terms in the House of Representatives with distinction. Throughout his years in office and in public life, he has maintained a reputation for peace, civility and constructive engagement with the people. At no point has he sponsored protests, encouraged disorder, or engaged in actions capable of breaching the peace of our Constituency.
Secondly, his predecessor strongly believes that politics must never be reduced to bitterness, blackmail or unnecessary tension. His engagement with the people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani has always been rooted in dialogue, democratic participation and respect for the rule of law.
Thirdly, the growing calls from constituents;- community leaders, women and youths and critical stakeholders urging the immediate past member to once again offer himself for service in 2027 are spontaneous expressions of goodwill from the people who remember his record of representation, accessibility and constituency development and empowerments. These organic calls should not be twisted into conspiracy theories or attempts to create an imaginary enemy.
Fourthly, it is unfortunate that instead of focusing on service delivery and democratic engagement, the sitting member has chosen to manufacture allegations against a respected former representative without presenting a shred of evidence. Such claims only serve to distract from the real issues affecting the people of the constituency.
The former member remains committed to peace, maturity and issue-based politics. He has not planned nor done anything that will cause dis-affection and ill-will against anybody or create tension, threaten the peace and security of Ndokwa land nor heat up the polity. He has accordingly urged the security agencies to monitor Hon Ezechi closely as his unfounded accusation could be a precursor to a desire to disrupt the peace and security of Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in his bid to suppress intending challengers to the office he presently occupies.
The approach of the former member, as always, has been to continuously consult widely with the people while allowing them to freely express their democratic preferences.
We therefore urge the general public to disregard Hon Ezechi's unfounded allegation as a figment of the imagination of an electorally insecure Aspirant, and we further call on all political actors in Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency to conduct themselves with restraint, responsibility and respect for the peace that our people cherish.
The people of Ndokwa/Ukwuani deserve politics of development, unity and progress — not politics of suspicion and false accusations.
