Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called for urgent intervention following reports of a woman found stranded at Iyana Era, along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, who is believed to be suffering from memory loss, possibly triggered by severe stress-induced mental health distress.
In a statement that underscores growing concern over the plight of vulnerable individuals in public spaces, the lawmaker described the situation as “heartbreaking” and one that demands immediate attention from both government authorities and well-meaning Nigerians.
“My attention has been drawn to a woman reportedly stranded at Iyana Era, off the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, who appears to have lost her memory… possibly due to severe stress-induced mental health distress,” she said, emphasizing the urgency of coordinated action.
The senator called on the Lagos State Government and relevant agencies to act swiftly to ensure the woman receives proper medical and psychological care, while also safeguarding the welfare of her children.
She stressed that as efforts are made to attend to the woman’s condition, equal priority must be given to the protection and safety of her children, urging that they be kept close to their mother in a secure and supportive environment.
Senator Natasha further expressed her readiness to provide support in any capacity necessary to alleviate the situation, reflecting a broader appeal for compassion and collective responsibility.
“My thoughts and prayers are with her and her children,” she added.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the need for stronger mental health response systems and social welfare interventions across the country, particularly in urban centres where vulnerable individuals are often left without immediate assistance.
